For foods that you make at home, the way to calculate the amount of calories is to add all the ingredient's calories and divide by the number of servings that it makes. Always use the weight of the ingredients prior to cooking. Once you cook food the water content changes and the weight changes. For example if you make lasagna, add all of the pasta, sauce, and cheeses to get the total calories for the entire pan of food. If the pan will serve 10 pieces, than each piece will be one tenth of the total calories of the precooked foods.
